(ANSA) – MELBOURNE, 19 JAN – Rafael Nadal has passed the second round of the Australian Open by beating the German Yannick Hanfmann (# 126) in three sets (6-2, 6-3, 6-4), who it is however well defended. “Today his level was much higher than his ranking indicates,” said the 35-year-old Spaniard, world number 5, of his opponent.
Now Nadal will face Russian Karen Khachanov (30 / o) or French Benjamin Bonzi (63 / o) for a place in the round of 16.
