(ANSA) – REGGIO EMILIA, 26 JAN – Reggio Emilia does not forget Kobe Bryant. On the day on the second anniversary of the death of the American NBA basketball champion and his young daughter Gianna who died in the helicopter crash in the USA, Mayor Luca Vecchi placed in their memory a bouquet of yellow and purple flowers (the colors of Los Angeles Lakers where the basketball player played for 20 years), placed on the title plate of Largo Kobe and Gianna Bryant, the square inaugurated a year ago in Reggio Emilia. Right next to the sports hall where his father Joe played from 1989 to 1991 with the Reggiana basketball jersey. Kobe spent a few years of his childhood in Reggio Emilia, attending schools and playing in the youth teams of the city’s basketball team that today pays homage to him.

In the evening, the fountain of the Romolo Valli municipal theater and the bridges of Santiago Calatrava are always illuminated in yellow and purple in his honor. While in the same Largo Kobe and Gianna Bryant it is possible to visit the photographic exhibition en plein air ‘Reggiano Forever’, with images dedicated to moments of sport and life of Bryant in Reggio Emilia, created by the Foundation for Sport of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia in collaboration with ‘Sdt-Scuola di Tifo’, as part of the ‘Sport For Change’ project from the Emilia-Romagna Region. The exhibition is equipped with QR Code from which you can listen to narrations of the champion’s life, thanks to the voices of the videomaker and radio host of Radio Deejay Gianluca Gazzoli, of Andrea Menozzi and Mauro Cantarella who were coaches of Kobe, of the actress Eleonora Giovanardi, by Max Collini voice of Offlaga Disco Pax and of Scores.
