Meta – the former Facebook – is introducing new corporate values, and they decided to convey them to employees and future employees

The values ​​that existed up to this point were formulated back in 2007, and a lot has changed since then.

The company now has a global community and broad influence, and is building a metaverse that builds the future of social connections, founder Mark Zuckerberg explained on Facebook.

There are six values ​​in total:

  • Move fast (Move Fast);
  • Focus on long-term planning (Focus on Long-Term Impact);
  • Create awesome things (Build Awesome Things);
  • Live in the future (Live in The Future);
  • Be direct and respect your colleagues (Be Direct and Respect Your Colleagues);
  • Meta, metamates, I (Meta, metamates, me).

The last value, about being good stewards of the company and mission, is a reference to the navy adage “Ship, ship’s crew, I” (Ship, shipmates, self).

The Washington Post, however, writes that the new values ​​​​were ridiculed by some employees within the company – they considered them “ideological processing” divorced from reality.

On internal forums, employees tagged the new message with a heart emoji, but in private conversations, according to The New York Times, they expressed skepticism.

In addition, one employee was confused by the reference to a naval admonition:

“Does this mean we are on a sinking ship?”

Zuckerberg himself, however, emphasized that while working at Meta, employees commit to apply these values ​​in their daily work.

In particular, will have to build and learn faster than anyone else, to look several steps ahead at once and release really awe-inspiring things.

He also urged the company’s employees to be straightforward, but show respect for the expertise of colleagues.
