New social Trump starts with flop, technical problems

Pesaro, Juan Diego Florez tenor and artistic director of the Rof:

Former US President Donald Trump’s social media app, ‘Truth’, has been available in Apple’s App Store since midnight, but several users have already encountered technical problems and are unable to create an account. According to Cnet, some of them received an error message when they tried to create an account to access the app, others while trying to enter their date of birth, email or phone number.

Still others reported being placed on a waiting list after registering, “due to huge demand”. Trump Media and Technology Group announced it would launch ‘Truth Social’ in October as part of an effort “to resist Big Tech tyranny” after the former president was banned from major social media following the assault on the Campidoglio on January 6, 2021. The CEO of the company Devin Nunes (former Republican MP) told Fox News that during the week the app will be available for more people, and the goal is for it to be fully operational by the end of March at least in the US.

The app began to be available for download in these hours and was automatically downloaded to Apple devices belonging to users who had pre-ordered it. It should be “fully operational” by the end of March. “This week, we will begin rolling out on Apple’s App Store,” said Devin Nunes, CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), parent company of the new Truth Social app. “I think we will be fully operational by the end of March, at least in the United States,” added Nunes, who resigned from the US House to lead the Trump group.

Donald Trump described social Truth as an alternative to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, which banned it following his supporters’ assault on the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021. The former president was accused of incite his followers to use force in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election result.

Truth comes out on President’s Day, the day in which the birthday of George Washington, the first US President, is celebrated. Trump explained that the new social network will serve to fight the “tyranny”, the “censorship” and the “cancel culture” of Big Tech and Big media.
