This statement was made by the Ukrainian software architect Volodymyr Shimansky, referring to his sources in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He believes that China has given Russia a significant advantage in aerial reconnaissance.
“The Russians are using this technology to track the positions of drone operators in order to aim artillery/rocket fire at them. In other words, the Russians are using DJI technology to kill Ukrainian drone operators,” – explains Shimansky.
He added that the Aeroscope technology is actually disabled for Ukrainian operators, unlike the Russians, so our army cannot do the same in response.
“This may be a technical issue. But this is unlikely, as there are also reports that: 1. DJI will limit or completely stop deliveries of its drones to Ukraine 2. It may introduce a no-fly zone in Ukraine in the near future,” the programmer writes.
In the comments under Shimansky’s post, DJI’s chief representative in the United States, Adam Lisberg, stated that this information is false, and the problems with the drones are due to technical problems.
“I am DJI’s top US representative and let me be very clear: these reports are false. We are aware of issues with some AeroScope units in Ukraine; these may be related to prolonged power/internet loss. But there is no intentional action to downgrade AeroScope” , he wrote.
Despite the denial, other users in the comments say they will boycott the Chinese brand’s appliances.

DJI Aeroscope is a proprietary equipment that allows you to track the movement of any DJI drone within a radius of 10 kilometers. Together with additional antennas manufactured by DJI, the range can be extended up to 50 kilometers.
