(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 30 – After Zurich, which removed the “Z” from its social profiles, Samsung too distances itself from the symbol used by the Russian armed forces in the conflict in Ukraine. The South Korean multinational – according to what is bouncing on Ukrainian social media and media – has decided to eliminate the “Z” from the names of its folding smartphones for sale in areas of Europe on the border with Russia, in particular the latest generation Galaxy Z Fold models 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. The stop has arrived in particular in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, but according to some rumors it could be extended to other European countries. The “Z” has disappeared from the official Samsung website, but also from packaging and billboards. The symbol, according to the company, gave immediacy to the image of a folding device, but now it is evidently believed that the public’s adversity to the invasion decided by Vladimir Putin could compromise the sale of the products.
