Covid: contagion fears cancel E3 2022, videogame fair

Ukraine, Zelensky:

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA), which organizes the largest video game fair in the world, E3, has confirmed the cancellation of the 2022 edition. In recent months, ESA had repeatedly stressed that the event would be held in hybrid mode, both online and at the historic headquarters in Los Angeles. In January, however, he had expressed his decision to only hold presentations via the internet given the resumption of infections in the United States. The event is typically held at the California City Convention Center. The association stressed that “it will devote all energy and resources to offer a physical and digital E3 experience next summer”.

After canceling the 2020 edition, due to Covid, the event was held in 2021 in purely digital form, with the promise of a return to the pavilions in 2022. The fear of a resumption of infections and the discovery of the Xe variant in Europe, put a stop to the organization of large fairs in person. It is no coincidence that the giants of technology, such as Google, had already anticipated the desire, at least for this year, to present new products and services exclusively via the internet. The next conference for developers of the American house, the Google I / O on May 11, will in fact be online only, as probably the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference, also dedicated to the world of developers.
