After a wave of criticism in the administration of the Meta services, it was justified that the blocking of the hashtags #Bucha and #BuchaMassacre happened automatically.

Meta spokesman Andy Stone blamed the blocking of hashtags on an automated system that scans images of violence on Facebook and Instagram.

“This happened automatically due to the graphic content that people posted using these hashtags. When we became aware of the issue yesterday, we quickly unblocked the hashtags,” he wrote in Twitter.

Earlier we wrote that Russia recognized Facebook and Instagram as extremist organizations. Social networks have been banned from working in Russia, but Russians themselves can use them.
