Roman Forum the most clicked cultural destination on Street View

(ANSA) – MILAN, MAY 24 – The Roman Forum in the Capital, Juliet’s House in Verona and Palazzo Pitti in Florence are the three most clicked Italian cultural destinations in 2021 on Street View. The Due Sorelle beach in Sirolo (AN), the Tuerredda beach in Teulada (CA) and the Carezza lake in Nova Levante (BZ), are the most sought-after seaside destinations on the Google service that allows you to virtually explore, in three dimensions, more than 10 million locations in 87 countries. Google, on the occasion of the fifteenth birthday of Street View, which officially is May 29 even if it is celebrated today, shared the favorite destinations of our local surfers, who use the app and the website, announcing the news with which it intends to map in the world even better. For example, with a new camera that, at the weight of a cat, allows the wearer to map even more easily places that are difficult to travel by car or bike, from mountain peaks to the most remote islands.

Speaking of the app, Big G introduces the ability to view historical images of a place, starting from its first digitization to the launch of Street View in 2007.

Leafing through each image you can see a time capsule that shows how a place has changed, such as the growth of the Vessel in New York’s Hudson Yards. Since 2007, Street View cars have captured and shared more than 220 billion images and have covered more than 10 million miles, the equivalent of 400 laps around the world. Additionally, thanks to advances in computer vision and artificial intelligence in recent years, Google is able to blend billions of Street View and aerial images together to create a rich digital model of places around the world.

With the new “immersive view”, which will be launched later this year, you will be able to go down to street level and even check inside a business, as if you were walking. (HANDLE).
