(ANSA) – MILAN, June 20 – After the rumors of the past few weeks, and the advance of Pavel Durov, founder of the company, Telegram has made Premium, its subscription service, official. This is the possibility, for payers, to unlock extra features of the messaging app, at a price of 5.99 euros per month. Version 8.8 of Telegram introduces the option to subscribe, already available on iPhone and coming to Android. Among the exclusive news, uploading files up to 4 gigabytes, double the 2 GB limit for everyone. Plus, faster downloads for files and multimedia content and converting voice messages to text. In addition to what Durov has already communicated about the stickers and the unique reactions for subscribers, Telegram Premium also integrates new chat management tools, animated profile photos and no alerts or advertisements, should they arrive in the future. In some markets, Telegram already displays sponsored messages in the larger public channels. “Many users have expressed their willingness to support our team,” Telegram explained. “Today we present Premium, a subscription that allows you to support the development of Telegram and access additional functions”.
Anyone who decides not to subscribe will be able to continue using Telegram as always, given that the current features will remain free and others will arrive in the future. The news should be available in all countries where Telegram is already active, including Russia, where especially dissidents continue to use it for the security and anonymity options of messages.
