Here comes the webcam that recognizes if the baby cries

Cannabis, Soldo:

(ANSA) – MILAN, JUL 14 – Hi-tech producer Owlet has launched its new webcam, Owlet Cam 2, which uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to decipher sounds in the surrounding environment and determine if in the room there is a baby crying. At that point, it sends a notification to the parents via the Owlet Dream app, even in the event of frantic movements or loud sounds, to alert them in real time.

As the US company explains, unlike the previous version, the Cam 2 integrates a new “predictive” sleep function, with which it automatically tracks the moments of wakefulness and rest of the child, in combination with the smart sock already in the brand portfolio. to learn the best time for babies to sleep better and more rested, and are less likely to wake up during sleep. Those who don’t have a Dream Sock can still take advantage of the feature, by manually adding sleep sessions via the app. The company originally sold its monitoring device as a Smart Sock, but had to take it off U.S. shelves after receiving a warning letter from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Although the FDA has not identified any safety concerns, the agency said it should be classified as a medical device due to its heart rate and oxygen level monitoring functions. Owlet stopped selling the sock in the US last year to avoid sanctions from the authority by making it available for purchase in the US earlier this year under a new name: Dream Sock. (HANDLE).
