(ANSA) – MILAN, AUG 23 – Apple has also included the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro equipped with the M1 chip in the Self Service Repair. Launched last November, the program allows anyone to repair iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and, from today, the two Apple laptops, by accessing technical manuals and an online spare parts shop. In the United States, where the initiative is active, there is also the option to rent a complete kit with the tools needed to open and service a MacBook, for $ 49 a week. To these we must then add the price of the parts to be replaced, from $ 5 for screws, to $ 29 for speakers and over $ 580 for an entire logic board. The company says the prices are the same as the approximately 5,000 licensed service providers in the US. According to Techcrunch, Apple plans to extend the program to more Mac models “this year,” such as the iMac and Mac Studio Display M2, and in other countries besides the US. As in the case of iPhones, the Cupertino giant allows you to reduce the cost of new hardware if you send back the damaged one. Thus, you can save more than half for valuable components, such as cards. Without sending anything to the company, the price of elements such as ram memory and storage becoming out of the market, probably to discourage those who think they can upgrade their laptop by replacing the modules and giving them more power and capacity.

In the past three years, Apple has nearly doubled the number of service centers in the US with access to parts, tools and training, including 3,500 independent repair providers.

As the company notes: “A global network of more than 5,000 Apple Authorized Centers supports more than 100,000 active technicians. As a result, eight out of ten customers in the United States are within 20 minutes of an authorized service provider.” (HANDLE).
