After the house, Tesla attacks entire neighborhoods

If when people talk to you about Tesla, you think of cars, that’s normal. However, Elon Musk’s company wants to vary its activities and also does storage and production of renewable energy. Last year, it signed a deal with Brookfield Asset Management and Dacra to deploy solar panels and Powerwalls on rooftops across an entire neighborhood in Austin, Texas. If in recent months we had little information on this subject, there seems to be something new.

An entire neighborhood powered by Tesla?

Last year, Tesla embarked on a massive new project: to power an entire neighborhood of 12,000 homes in Austin called Easton Park. Thanks to the agreement with two real estate giants, Elon Musk’s company has a great opportunity to enter this new market thanks to its solar energy storage and production activity. This would result in a sort of all-inclusive package for new homes with Tesla Solar Roofs and Powerwalls included.

If during the year Tesla put the brakes on its solar rooftop installations because of a few delays, it would seem that this is now history. For this new quarter, the company is focusing on new homes, such as those in Easton Park.

Today, the real estate expert Brookfield Asset Management unveils many new homes with the mention “Tesla Solar Package”. Those interested will thus be able to take advantage of a “fully equipped” house in a way.

A few Tesla-powered homes have already popped up in Austin, like that of Mario D. Interviewed by Electrek, this Easton Park resident explains his choice quite simply: he did the cost-benefit analysis. Choosing a “Tesla roof” upon installation is much more interesting than adding it afterwards. But that’s not all. Since this arrangement provides him with more electricity than he needs, Mario can sell the rest back to the grid. “I can generate long-term passive income by using the energy-saving habits I already have”.

New course, therefore, for Tesla. It remains to be seen if this huge neighborhood in the heart of Texas will be unanimous. If so, then Elon Musk’s company might want to conquer new cities.
