A long-awaited feature is coming to Fitbit watches

The payment solution by phone or connected watch from Google, called Wallet, has just been extended by the Californian firm within new models. The group, owner of the Fitbit connected bracelet brand since 2021, has just introduced this functionality in two of the firm’s products.

The Fitbit Sense 2 as well as the Fitbit Versa 4 are now able to use Google Wallet and make payments via the application directly from the watch (contactless). These two products were released at the end of the summer. The watches are available today at a price of 229€ for the Versa 4 and 299€ for the Sense 2.

For people who do not yet own the watch but who might be tempted to buy it with the arrival of Black Friday, it is worth remembering that these two devices, to everyone’s surprise, do not have Wear OS. However, Google’s in-house operating system equips several connected watches, such as the latest Samsung products.

Google Wallet but also Google Maps

For people who already own the watches, you can now experience contactless payment from the wrist with the Sense 2 and the Versa 4. Another new feature announced on November 15 by Fitbit is the arrival of Google Maps on both devices.

We will have to wait a few more weeks and the arrival of a software update to see Google’s geolocation application make its debut in watches. Google Wallet, like Apple’s competing solution, is available in France, but not all banks have yet entered into a partnership with the tech giant. You can find the list of banks compatible with Google Wallet, in this article.

In addition to the arrival of this new feature in watches, Google has announced that it will open its contactless payment system to twelve new countries starting today. Armenia, Cyprus, Georgia or even Kyrgyzstan, Thailand and Vietnam are concerned. Closer to home, it will be possible to make contactless payments with Google Pay in Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Slovenia.

Fitbit: three watches for all profiles

Touted as Fitbit’s new watches for the year, the Sense 2 and Versa 4 are the brand’s most premium products. Fitbit also offers a third model, with much more modest features. This is the Inspire 3 connected bracelet. It only costs 99€ to buy.
