PS5s Could Be Built Into Next Honda Cars

What if video game consoles gradually became a standard option for our future vehicles? As we know, for quite some time now, real video games can be installed in certain Tesla models. It could be that in the next few years this could become a standard. In September 2022, Sony and Honda joined forces to create the Sony Honda Mobility concept. An amazing project whose main goal was the creation of new electric vehicles centered around a specific theme: entertainment.

Of course, when we talk about entertainment at Sony, we necessarily think of music, cinema, but also, and above all, video games with PlayStation. According to Izumi Kawanishi, president of Sony Honda Mobility, the integration of video games and PS5 in future vehicles is well under consideration.

In a recent interview with the site FinancialTimesIzumi Kawanishi, the president of the Sony Honda Mobility project confirmed that “Sony has entertainment content, services and technologies that move people”. As a result, Honda intends to adapt this to the Sony Honda Mobility project, to constitute a great force against Tesla. What could make the difference, according to Kawanishi, is the PS5 which is a true world-recognized video game console. While Tesla wants to design its own Gaming platform to include in its cars.

Still according to Izumi Kawanishi, it is “technologically possible” to integrate a PS5 into future Honda vehicle models. On the other hand, it will not be necessary to wait for this collaboration for now. The Sony Honda Mobility project which was formalized last September should not see the light of day before 2025 in the best case. Until then, other PS5 variants could emerge.
