The pepper is part of a NASA experiment called Plant Habitat-04, which aims to determine what foods can be grown in space.

: NASA for the second time postponed the launch of the spacecraft with astronauts to the ISS: what is the problem

In June, forty-eight seeds were sent to the space station, where they were grown in a ventilated machine to carry pollen in microgravity.

In previous experiments, lettuce and radish were grown, but pepper was the most difficult of them, as it takes much longer to grow, germinate and bear fruit.

However, recently the pepper has yielded a crop. After waiting for four months, the astronauts were finally able to taste the fruits of their labor.

Astronauts made tacos with space pepper, beef, rehydrated tomatoes and artichokes.

Solving the problem of growing vegetables in microgravity is important for long missions, during which the crew will need good sources of vitamin C, such as pepper.

We add that the astronauts will return part of the crop to Earth for analysis.
