Italy, hi-tech demand boom, 6 billion euro turnover

Death alert in Germany:

(ANSA) – MILAN, 04 NOV – The sale of technological devices in Italy continues to record rising figures. According to the latest estimates of the analysis company GfK, contained in the new ICT Distributors Panel, in the first nine months of 2021, the turnover of the entire sector reached 6.1 billion euros, equal to an increase of 8.4% compared to 2020. Figures that could have been even better, had the chip crisis not intensified further in the third quarter of the year. The results, explain the GfK analysts, are the consequence of the digital transformation process in our country, strengthened by remote work and distance learning during lockdown periods. At the top of consumer demands are monitors and hardware components, respectively at + 31.7% and + 23.7%, followed by household appliances and laptops, at + 19% and + 14.5%. Lower down, albeit growing, were telephony (+ 11.1%) and household appliances (+ 19%). Positive performance also for televisions (+12.7), thanks to the new incentives for the switch-off.

Demand for business channels grew on average by + 6.7%, supported by strong demand for computers (+8.2), monitors and signage at + 31.1%, as well as hardware components (+23.7). The only sector showing a negative trend is that of services (-6.5%), the least significant in terms of turnover. (HANDLE).
