Technology transfer, the InfnOpen project starts

The operational phase of InfnOpen kicks off, the technology transfer project funded with approximately 1.7 million euros under the cohesion action program complementary to the Pon ‘Governance and Institutional Capacity’, promoted by the National Institute of Physics Nuclear. Presented in the Gran Sasso National Laboratories, the project intends to make the wealth of technologies developed by Infn available to society, in particular to the manufacturing world.

“The transfer of technology and know-how from research institutions to various subjects expressing the world of economics is fundamental for increasing the innovation and competitiveness of the economic community on the national and international market”, said Mariangela Cestelli Guidi , coordinator of the Infn national committee for technology transfer. “From this point of view – she added – the launch of the Infn.Open project represents an important opportunity to enhance Infn’s ability to produce innovation through specific tools to optimize the management of technology transfer processes towards the business system”.

For the director general of the Agency for Territorial Cohesion, Riccardo Monaco, the Open project (Open INnovation from Fundamental Nuclear research) “represents a great opportunity for institutional collaboration between cohesion policy and scientific research, capable of spreading to the world businesses the potential contained in the activity of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics and support the development of cutting-edge technologies that will have a very high impact on the growth, competitiveness and innovation of the country’s industrial fabric”.

The director of the Gran Sasso National Laboratories, Ezio Previtali, was also satisfied, for whom “fundamental research is for the Gran Sasso Laboratories a continuous challenge to discover the secrets of nature. The technology transfer activities that the InfnOpen project will ‘ to support will allow the Laboratories to deal better with the entrepreneurial realities that are often recipients of the frontier technology that we develop every day”.
