Leroy Merlin plays it Lidl with its connected lights at low prices

  • Leroy Merlin launches new low-cost connected lights under the Inspire brand
  • There are white / color LED panels, recessed extraflat LED spotlights, adjustable connected LED spotlights and a connected outdoor LED projector
  • These products are available now and recall the strategy of IKEA or Lidl

DIY giant Leroy Merlin is launching a range of new connected lights under the Inspire brand. Lighting offered at very attractive prices. Especially since they are both compatible with Hue connection bridges, Zigbee Enki bridges from the brand (and Zigbee technology bridges from other brands).

All this in addition to live piloting via bluetooth if you do not wish to install a connection bridge. These simple and design luminaires can all diffuse a wide variety of whites and colors.

Leroy Merlin also democratizes connected bulbs

Among the novelties, therefore, there are three square or rectangular white / color LED panels, which offer a wide variety of shades of white and color, with a maximum light intensity ranging from 1,800 to 5,400 lumens.

Very stylish, these “light frames” practically give the impression, when fixed to the ceiling, of a skylight. These panels have dimensions of 30 × 30 cm, 60 × 60 cm and 30 × 120 cm, and a thickness of 3.1 cm. They are priced at €69.90, €130 and €140 respectively.

Leroy Merlin also offers new round recessed Inspire Extraflat LED spotlights – indeed very thin since we are talking about a thickness of only 3.2 cm. They come in four sizes: XS (8.5 cm), S (12 cm), M (17 cm) and L (22.5 cm), and are available at respective prices of €39.90, €41.90 , €48.90 and €59.90.

For those looking for simpler, low-power adjustable LED spotlights, Leroy Merlin offers a unique 460 lumen (4.6 W) model, which projects light in various shades of white and color (from 2700 to 6500 K). This spot costs only €19.90 per unit.

Finally, for the outdoors, Leroy Merlin is launching a connected outdoor LED projector that diffuses white light (from 2700 to 6500K) or color, with a fairly decent power of 3,000 lumens (21W). This projector is available in black for €39.90.

All these products are available now on the Leroy Merlin website or in-store. The brand’s approach is reminiscent of that of IKEA with its range of Trådfri or Lidl lamps, which have also been offering inexpensive connected bulbs for some time.

The difference is that Leroy Merlin is betting on features regardless of the model. Trådfri bulbs at Ikea, for example, can be significantly cheaper. But we are talking about models that are often more basic, sometimes without color. Same thing for Livarno bulbs available at Lidl for example.

Thanks to Zigbee technology, however, it is entirely possible to connect both these new Leroy Merlin luminaires and third-party luminaires to the same connection bridge.
