(ANSA) – ROME, 01 DEC – The USB key arrives which destroys itself, as in the movie Mission Impossible. The Russian company Rostec is testing it – it is not yet on the market. It looks identical to the standard ones in circulation, but incorporates a detonator for self-destruct on command. The manufacturer declares that this device is designed for those who want to be sure that the stored data never ends up in hands other than the authorized user, excluding any possibility of recovery and access to the data.

The company ensures that the self-destruct process of the USB stick is completely safe for the user. When the manual button for self-destruction is pressed, the detonator triggers a cumulative charge from the battery, also incorporated in the key. The overload causes the destruction of only the memory chips within 5 seconds, and of all the stored contents, leaving the external casing of the stick intact. (HANDLE).
