Erica Cloud is the second Tesla employee within a month to file a lawsuit against the automotive giant for alleged sexual harassment. At the end of November, Jessica Barraza had raised her accusations against the company, guilty of having always turned a blind eye to the so-called “catcalling” of which she would have been the victim, unwanted comments and gestures, which occurred “every day for three years”.
As reported by Reuters, Cloud is one of the workers at Tesla’s assembly line in California. Here, the woman contacted the Alameda County Superior Court, claiming that she suffered “continuous and pervasive” sexual harassment at the factory. In the lawsuit, Cloud says her manager often “hugged and massaged her,” as well as being the subject of vulgar and sexual remarks from superiors. The employee also accuses Tesla of not doing enough to deal with possible sexual harassment in the workplace. The complaint with the authorities came after an initial interview with Tesla’s human resources department, which the company does not seem to have followed up. In October, the giant led by Elon Musk was sentenced to pay $ 137 million in connection with another accident at its Fremont factory. Owen Diaz, a former black worker, said he suffered harassment and racial discrimination.
Tesla employees have filed collective action against the employer to monitor racist incidents in major US locations.
