(ANSAMED) – Cairo, April 25 – The “Newspace Africa 2025” conference ended at Cairo, hosted for four days by the Egyptian space agency (EGSA) in the “Egyptian Space City”, east of Cairo. For the occasion, the “Permanent headquarters of the African space agency” was inaugurated, a “historical step” for the continental coordination of space policies. This was reported by a widespread message from the Egyptian government press office.
Until Thursday 24 April, the African space agencies, representatives of global companies and specialists in the sector and various “Memorandum protocols” with international entities, including the agreement with the Japanese Solafony, focused on the “Development of technologies” for “Geographical information systems” and Remote Removal, attended the conference until Thursday 24 April.
Collaborations with Thrustme (France), Maxar Technologies (USA), Arianegroup (EU), Dragonfly Aerospace (South Africa) and Satrev (Poland) were also consolidated.
Among the recommendations that emerged from the conference are the support for innovative startups, “the activation of legal and regulatory paintings” to facilitate collaborations and greater infrastructure investments. According to ENGSA, promoter of the initiative, the conference strengthens the strategic role of Egypt in the African space sector, in line with the national development strategy “Egypt 2030”.
