Bernini, the Cern symbol of what we want to do with Ukraine

“CERN is a laboratory symbol of peace and it is a physical representation of what we want to do today together with Ukraine”: this is what the Minister of the University and Research Anna Maria Bernini said, who participated today in Rome at the Conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine, co-organized by Italian and Ukrainian governments and which sees about 5 thousand participants.

The Minister took the CERN as an example, the largest laboratory in the world for the physics of the particles, placed on the border between France and Switzerland: “We want all the countries, regardless of their geopolitical relations, work together to achieve a common goal – said Bernini – and this is what we want to do from today onwards. A year ago we decided to help Ukraine through science and innovation and we have managed to reach an international coalition. We are working with our universities, our public bodies and our research centers, trying to put everything together to understand what connections with universities and Ukrainian research centers are.

Anna Maria Bernini then recalled the imminent signature of a joint declaration of intent, a memorandum of understanding for the reconstruction of Ukraine, which took place at the end of the session: “With this declaration we want to reconstruct structures and infrastructures not only in a physical and material way, but also immaterial”, underlined the minister. “The only way is to work together to create a network, and we must expand and increase this initiative – concluded Bernini – with a public and private partnership: this is the best thing we can do for Ukraine, but also for ourselves”.
