(ANSA) – MILAN, 19 JAN – Microsoft has presented a series of new laptops designed specifically for students. At the end of 2021, the Redmond giant had unveiled, in a very contained way, Windows 11 Se, a lighter iteration of its latest operating system, suitable for less powerful devices. The unspoken but evident objective was to propose the platform on a renewed range of computers that would respond to the still present trend of remote teaching. Through various partnerships, Microsoft has therefore listed the first models equipped with Windows 11 Se, which will compete in the low-profile segment with the wide offer of Chromebooks. Google, with the launch of Chrome Os in 2009, had kicked off the market for cheap notebooks, so much so that it surpassed Apple’s MacBooks in the ranking of best-selling laptops, according to research conducted by the IDC. Among the partners of the first phase of Microsoft’s initiative are Acer, Asus, Dell, Dynabook (formerly Toshiba), Lenovo and HP, while the proposals from Fujitsu and Positivo will arrive over the next few months. Some of these brands are known above all for devices aimed at companies and professionals, further proof of how the “light” operating system wants to position itself even in a more purely business environment, where remote work requires lightness and versatility and, more than of power, a good suite of collaboration programs, coupled with a fast internet connection. The models with Windows 11 Se cannot compete with the top of the range but have from their display from 11.6 “to 14”, Pentium or Celeron processors and emmc storage memory. Prices range between 300 and 500 euros, as in the case of the Acer TravelMate B3, sold for just over 350 euros. (HANDLE).
