Instagram, which recently overtook Facebook in popularity among Ukrainians, promised to protect users from “potentially harmful content.”

The social network will take stricter measures against messages that may contain intimidation or incitement to hatred, or encourage violence, said in an Instagram post.

Such posts will be shown lower in the feed and stories. In addition, will be sent to the bottom of the tape also “potentially upsetting messages”.

Only messages that violate the rules of the social network will be completely removed. Instagram will continue tell people if their post has been deleted.

Facebook has a similar policy: for example, since January 19, it has banned targeting ads to customers interested in religion, health, or LGBT people.

Prior to this, the company has already “lowered” in the tape posts that contained misinformation. Bullying, hate posts, or incitement to violence will now come under targeted fire.

The reasons for this policy are understandable – Facebook, for example, at the end of 2021 fell into another scandal.

The social network was accused of earning hundreds of thousands of dollars on anti-vax advertising, in which the United States was accused of the Holocaust and Nazism.

That said, Instagram and Facebook are far from the only ones cracking down on dangerous content. Telegram recently blocked over 1,000 porn and copyright infringement channels.

Google also contributes its feed, which on December 20 promised to hide dangerous content on your disks.
