Eliseo2022: today Macron’s first public appearance as a candidate

(ANSA) – PARIS, MARCH 07 – The French president, Emmanuel Macron, is expected today in Poissy, in the Yvelines department, not far from Paris, for a first public appearance as a presidential candidate on April 10 and 24.

Macron officially announced his candidacy for a second term in the Elysée on March 3 with a ‘Letter to the French’ published in regional newspapers. The secretary of the majority party La République En Marche, Stanislas Guerini, explained that priority is being given today to the resolution of the Russian war in Ukraine but the president-candidate will take advantage of “all available spaces” of his international agenda “to go to meet the French “; one month after the vote. Asked if, as previously announced, Macron expects a big rally in Marseille next weekend, Guerini replied: “No, we haven’t confirmed it.” And again: “I am not saying that at some point there will be no electoral rallies but everyone can understand that a 100% classic rally format with militants is obviously a form that does not exactly correspond to the moment we are living”, he specified in reference to the return of war in Europe.

For Macron’s loyalist, “it is above all very important to be able to confront and go directly to speak with the French, to answer the questions that arise”.

Interviewed by Public-Sénat, Guerini specified that “today there are many adhesions to La République En Marche”. “We are 430.00 members, with 3,000 members per month added”. (HANDLE).
