The Ministry of Defense of Russia refutes the accusations of Kiev and holds the nationalist group responsible Azov Battalion by the explosion. After the destruction of the site, the government of Italy offered to help rebuild the theater. The explosion takes place in the midst of the siege against the city. More than 300,000 Ukrainians are still inside the municipality, surrounded by Russian and separatist troops. Ukrainian government estimates indicate that around 20,000 people have died and that 80% of homes have been destroyed.
