(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, MARCH 23 – “We are ready to do more to stop Putin’s war machine”. This was stated by the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, speaking in plenary at the European Parliament.

“The Ukrainian people are fighting for freedom and we will not abandon them, because this is our political and moral duty. They are fighting only for themselves, but they are fighting for our common values, for our principles,” said Michel. “This war must end. Our Ukrainian friends are also asking for another help, which is political help, Ukraine is part of our European family and we support Ukraine’s European choice. Her right is to choose her own destiny. – Michel added – We have decided to immediately strengthen our ties, deepen our partnerships and to support Ukraine in following its European path. We have proposed to launch a solidarity fund “. And there will be “an international donor conference to support Ukraine, for its immediate needs to help rebuild a free and democratic Ukraine”: “We will address this issue tomorrow at the G7 and the European Council”.
