Covid: Washington cases peak, fear could spread Biden

(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, 08 APR – It is “possible that sooner or later” Joe Biden will also be infected with Covid. The head of communications of the White House, Kate Bedingfield, told CNN after news of cases in the administration and among figures very close to the 79-year-old American president arrived in the last hours. Last in chronological order the speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, who just a few days ago had attended an event at the White House with Biden and former President Barack Obama to which none of the guests wore a mask. Attorney General Merrick Garland, and Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, have also announced they are positive for the coronavirus. Both had attended a gala dinner last weekend at Washington’s Gridiron Club that may have been one of those ‘super spreaders’ of the virus. In fact, every day officials and politicians of the American capital appear who participated in the evening and now test positive for Covid. They also included First Lady spokesperson Jill Biden, Michael LaRosa, and Vice President Kamala Harris Communications Director Jamal Simmons.

For now, the White House point out, Biden will not change his habits and will continue to be tested regularly like everyone in his inner circle. “The president continues to live his life, like other Americans, by taking precautions and following the guidelines of the CDC,” Bedingfield said. Today Biden, Harris and many other officials will attend the celebrations for the confirmation of the Supreme Court of Ketanji Brown Jackson, but the event will be outdoors. (HANDLE).
