Colombia-Turkey, cooperation agreements on education and culture

(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 27 – During his visit to Colombia, the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, met the Vice President and Foreign Minister, Marta Lucía Ramírez, to discuss the bilateral agenda and to sign two cooperation in education, culture and sport.

According to reports from the newspaper El Tiempo, the two officials, who met yesterday, highlighted the importance of the relationship between the two countries and mutual projects in terms of entrepreneurship, technology and innovation.

Cavusoglu said Colombia is Turkey’s best partner in Latin America, as bilateral trade hit $ 2 billion in 2021.

However, the goal is for this figure to reach $ 5 billion, the Turkish minister said, underlining the desire to “promote investment”.

Ramírez stressed the importance of a meeting held between Colombian entrepreneurs and Turkish investors, to show the country’s potential as a destination for foreign investments. “We want to invite Turkish investments into Colombia,” said the vice president.

According to reports from the Colombian Foreign Ministry, Turkish companies would be interested in investing in infrastructure projects, tourism and transport, among others. Referring to the current situation of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Ramírez “recognized the leadership” of Turkey to carry out the peace talks between the two countries.

The visit of the Turkish Foreign Minister to Colombia takes place as part of a trip to Latin America which has already taken him to Brazil and Uruguay and will take him to Ecuador, Panama and Venezuela. (HANDLE).
