(ANSA) – NEW YORK, MAY 11 – The state of New York allocates 35 million dollars to an emergency fund to guarantee access to abortion in the event the Supreme Court decides to cancel Roe v. Wade.
In particular, the funds will go to medical facilities that practice termination of pregnancy to prepare for the influx of patients if this right is revoked. “Don’t mess with the state of New York,” Governor Kathy Hochul said. “We will use up resources to make sure our doctors have what it takes to guarantee basic human rights.”
The measure was criticized above all by the New York State Catholic Conference, which called it “a serious misuse of state resources and an insult to millions of New Yorkers against abortion”.
Part of the funds will also be used to ensure the safety of facilities that practice abortion. (HANDLE).
