Separated from her mother at Azovstal, Alice is now with her grandparents

(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 11 – Alice, the little girl who was separated from her mother during the evacuation of the Azovstal steel mill, is now with her grandparents. This was announced by Antonina Matveeva, head of the Childhood Service of the Zaporizhia Oblast, quoted by Radio Svoboda.

The child was delivered to her grandfather who will take her to Poland, where her grandmother is also. “The documents have been issued, duplicates of the birth certificate of the child who is now leaving have been received,” said Matveeva.

The little girl, whose story had moved the world, had been separated from her mother, Victoria Obidina, a military doctor who treated the fighters barricaded in the steel plant, during the evacuation of the site. Taken to Zaporizhzhia, she had been placed in the care of the family of a municipal employee waiting to be reunited with her relatives and to find, hopefully soon, her mother trapped in a filtration camp.
