(ANSA) – NEW YORK, MAY 11 – The American Chamber approves four measures against Russia and Belarus and in support of Ukraine despite the opposition of some republicans.
The first approved measure aims to exclude Russian officials from participating in meetings of the G20, the Basel Committee on Banking Standards and the Financial Stability Board. The second concerns instead asking for the suspension of multilateral payments due from Kiev, while the third clarifies that the foreign subsidiaries of American institutions must respect the sanctions imposed by the Biden administration on Russia and Belarus.
The fourth provision prohibits the US Treasury from taking part in transactions involving the exchange of Special Drawing Rights, the special drawing rights which are the currency of the IMF, controlled by Russia or Belarus. (HANDLE).
