Russia used to bombing of Lvov on the night of May 16-17, long-range missiles from a submarine in the Black Sea.
This was reported by the American edition of Defense One, whose profile is military analytics.
Experts noted that the use of long-range missiles from submarines in the Black Sea may indicate that Russia is running out of high-precision missiles.
“Until now, they kept them kind of in reserve. Basically, this is a reflection of the fact that they are running out of missiles.”said Brian Clark, a former Navy submariner who is a senior fellow and director of the Center for Defense Concepts and Technology at the Hudson Institution.
For weeks, Pentagon officials have noted that Russia is running out of precision-guided munitions and sanctions will make it difficult for it to resupply.
“According to our estimates, they used up their ammunition for high-precision missiles quite quickly”Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said last week.
Russia has launched about a dozen sea-launched missiles into Ukraine and has previously reported firing Kalibr submarine cruise missiles at Ukrainian ground targets. But if Ukraine does confirm the launch, “this will be the first confirmed use of submarine cruise missiles in this war,” Clarke said.
