Nepalese security personnel carry the bodies of victims of a crash of a Twin Otter aircraft operated by Tara Air that crashed in the Himalayas with 22 people on board, brought to Kathmandu in an army helicopter at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu

The rescue teams of Nepal found 21 bodies of the 22 crew members who were on the plane that crashed in the Himalayas on Sunday, 29, said Nepalese army spokesman Nararyan Silwal. The search was resumed this Monday, 30, after being paralyzed because of the weather condition. Nearly 60 people were working at the accident site, including military, police, mountain guides and residents of the region. Authorities said the plane “had an accident” at 14,500 feet (4,420 meters) in the Sanosware area of Thasang, Mustang district.

The aircraft bound for Jomsom, a popular mountaineering destination, lost contact with air traffic controllers shortly after takeoff from Pokhara, western Nepal, on Sunday morning. “Analyzing the footage we received, it appears that the plane did not catch fire. Everything is spread out on the spot. The plane appears to have collided with a large rock on the hill,” said Pokhara airport spokesman Dev Raj Subedi. Four Indians and two Germans were on board. The other passengers were Nepalese, including a computer engineer, his wife and two daughters, who had just returned from the United States. Pradeep Gauchan, a local government official, said bad weather made the rescue operation difficult. “The helicopters are waiting for the clouds to disappear,” he said.
