After two months of heavy restrictions that have limited commercial activities and locked down residents, Shanghai authorities said today they will lift further restrictions to bring the Covid-affected city back to normal. In late March, the city of 25 million was placed under strict zone lockdown after a variant of Omicron had spread. After gradually loosening some rules in recent weeks, officials today said residents living in areas deemed low-risk will be able to move freely around the city. The easing of restrictions will apply to about 22 million people, Deputy Mayor Zong Ming told reporters.
