Di Stefano in Vietnam, Italian projects and investments increase

(ANSA) – HANOI, 08 JUN – The strengthening of economic relations between Italy and Vietnam, not only in a bilateral perspective but also in that of the wider regional system of South East Asia, was one of the points on which the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Manlio Di Stefano as part of the press conference organized this morning by the Embassy of Hanoi on the occasion of the visit of the exponent of the Farnesina to Vietnam.

“Historically, Vietnam has been a country in which Italy has invested heavily, a country in which there are more than 100 Italian companies, but recent events and Vietnam’s capacity for growth in terms of economic development and social development have changed the prospect to the point that we now consider it as a strategic partner from a political point of view “, explained Di Stefano. “We already have companies operating in Vietnam for the construction of large infrastructures, such as the Hanoi Metro and underground stations, but we expect a strong increase and I see many possibilities. There are areas to be addressed, such as pharmaceuticals, or that of the protection of geographical indications of origin of products “, added the undersecretary, answering questions from Vietnamese journalists.

From a cultural point of view, there will also be a strong increase in activities, as underlined by Ambassador Antonio Alessandro: “We are working with the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport to realize here in Hanoi, most likely here at Casa Italia, the ‘Italian Cultural Institute, which will have its own dedicated budget that will allow us to have qualified cultural personnel and to broaden the range of cultural activities, which is already quite broad “.
