Spain: 29 injured in a train accident in Catalonia

(ANSA) – MADRID, JUN 13 – Twenty-nine people were injured in a train accident that took place last night in Vilaseca, Catalonia. Five were transported to hospital in serious condition, while another 17 with minor injuries, according to local emergency services.

The incident consisted of a collision between a locomotive and a regional, which was traveling between Barcelona and Tortosa. In total, there were about 75 people on this train.

According to one of the first hypotheses made regarding the dynamics of the accident, the locomotive would not have respected a red light, perhaps due to a problem with the brakes: Iberian media report it. (HANDLE).
