Spain: deaths at work up by 22.3% in 2022

(ANSA) – MADRID, JUN 14 – Sharp increase in deaths in accidents at work in Spain: between January and April of this year, 258 workers died, 47 more than in the same period in 2021 (up 22.3%) . This was announced by the Ministry of Labor.

In particular, the sectors in which the most white deaths occurred were the agricultural and construction sectors.

“This is a truly alarming situation.” comments the Comisiones Obreras union in a note. “Injuries at work have become the worst socioeconomic indicator in this period and the authorities, led by the national government, must start to seriously address this situation,” said Mariano Sanz, secretary of the union’s Occupational Health area.
