Moscow will dedicate Gb embassy square to pro-Russian separatists

(ANSA) – ROME, JULY 04 – The Moscow authorities intend to dedicate the open space near the British embassy in Russia to the self-proclaimed separatist “republic” of Lugansk, in the south-east of Ukraine in fact partially controlled by pro-Russian separatists and by Russian troops: the Moscow Times reports, specifying that the announcement was made by the Moscow City Hall just after the Russian troops that invaded Ukraine occupied the city of Lysychansk.

Also according to the Moscow Times, 56% of the 109,000 inhabitants of Moscow who participated in a survey to choose which square to dedicate to the self-proclaimed separatist Ukrainian “republic” – not internationally recognized and in fact controlled by Russia – chose that of in front of the British embassy. Other possible options were the squares near the embassies of Germany, Lithuania and Belgium.

In June, the Moscow authorities dedicated the space in front of the American embassy to the other self-proclaimed “republic” of the pro-Russian separatists of Donbass: that of Donetsk, also in the south-eastern areas of Ukraine effectively controlled by pro-Russian separatists and the Russian army.

In February, Russian troops invaded Ukraine, sparking a bloody war in the heart of Europe. (HANDLE).
