Warm alert also in France, peak expected for Monday

(ANSA) – PARIS, 13 JUL – The grip of the heat returns to tighten France. Beyond the Alps, the current heat wave is expected to peak on Monday, with peaks expected to be between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius in some regions of the south-west of the country, Météo-France reported today.

Seven departments remain on orange alert (five in the southwest, with Ardèche and Drome) and three other departments (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Haute-Loire and Pyrénées-Orientales) have been placed on yellow alert.

Temperatures also rising in Paris. “Monday should be the hottest day”; explains the head of Météo-France, Matthieu Chevallier. On that day, like Sunday, temperatures “of over 40 ° C are conceivable” in the most affected regions, such as the south-west and the Rhone valley.
