Two weeks after being sentenced to life in prison in France for the Bataclan massacre of November 13, 2015 in Paris, Salah Abdeslam was transferred from the French prison of Fleury-Merogis to a prison in Belgium, where he will be tried in October for the attacks of Brussels of March 2016.
Abdeslam is the only surviving member of the jihadist commando that killed 130 people and injured hundreds in Paris and Saint-Denis, north of Paris in November 2015.
The Belgian trial concerns the attack in which 32 people were killed in Brussels on March 22, 2016, organized by the same jihadist cell of the Islamic State of the November 13, 2015 attacks in France. According to the Belgian federal prosecutor, the proceedings could last between “six and eight months”, until the summer of 2023. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 12 September.
