Capodimonte’s masterpieces exhibited in Hong Kong

(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 21 – The masterpieces of the Capodimonte Museum in Naples are exhibited for the first time in Hong Kong in an exhibition inaugurated last July 15 at the Hong Kong Museum of Art and made possible thanks to the support of the Consulate General of Italy as part of the celebrations for the Year of Culture and Tourism Italy-China 2022 and the Festival “Italia Mia” 2022.

The exhibition “The Road to the Baroque”, which will remain open until November 2, presents 40 works from the late Renaissance of northern and central Italy and the Neapolitan Baroque from the two main nuclei of the Neapolitan Museum, the Farnese Collection and the Bourbon collection.

The collections include works by legendary masters such as Titian, Annibale Carracci and Artemisia Gentileschi, examples of the richness of the Neapolitan artistic heritage of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and of the expressive power and elegance of the Baroque that had its capital in Naples.

The Consul General of Italy, Clemente Contestabile, spoke at the inauguration, underlining the excellent artistic value of the exhibition which illustrates the expressive power, spirituality and vitality of the Neapolitan Baroque and brings the Hong Kong public closer to the great cultural heritage of Naples .

Present at the ceremony was Hong Kong Secretary of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Kevin Yeung, who expressed strong appreciation for the initiative. The director of the Capodimonte Museum, Sylvain Bellenger, participated in connection from Naples. (HANDLE).
