Usa: closes Boathouse restaurant, New York icon and institution

(ANSA) – NEW YORK, JUL 21 – The Loeb Boathouse, the historic restaurant in the heart of Central Park in New York, will close in October. The manager Dean J Poll has in fact decided to throw in the towel citing the high costs of labor and goods.

“It’s a difficult place to manage due to its location, seasonality, access and expense,” Poll explained, referring to the fact that the restaurant in the middle of the popular park is not accessible by car. Since it opened in 1983, the place has changed hands several times. And the authorities hope that once again a solution will be found with a new manager as soon as possible.

The restaurant is one of the institutions of New York, the scene of famous films – such as’ Harry Met Sally ‘,’ The Manchurian Candidate ‘and ’27 Times in White’ – and the setting for the lunches and dinners of the city’s elite, including Ivana Trump. (HANDLE).
