Lapid, ‘closure of Jewish agency in Moscow would be serious’

(ANSA) – TEL AVIV, JUL 24 – The Israeli Prime Minister, Yair Lapid, warned today that “the closure of the Moscow offices of the Jewish Agency would be a serious event, which would have repercussions on bilateral relations”.

Commenting on a request to that effect expressed last week by the Russian justice ministry, Lapid – according to a statement from the prime minister’s office – reiterated that “relations with Russia are important to us”, as are those “with the great local Jewish community “.

Lapid has ordered a delegation of experts in judicial matters to be ready to leave for Moscow as soon as an agreement arrives from Russia to examine the judicial aspects of the affair with it and to seek an agreed solution.

In parallel, the statement specifies, the issue is also discussed in diplomatic channels. (HANDLE).
