(ANSA) – RIO DE JANEIRO, JUL 25 – In Brazil, enthusiasm is growing among the strategists of Jair Bolsonaro’s electoral campaign, after the crowd that yesterday accompanied the formalization of his candidacy for the presidential elections, where the leader of right will seek reconfirmation for a second four-year term: in a crowded stadium – for the occasion the ‘Maracanazinho’ in Rio de Janeiro was chosen – thousands of people, with the colors of the national flag, welcomed the head of state with ovations like in a football world cup final.

And in fact, according to many observers, the very climate of preparation for the World Cup in Qatar, scheduled for November, can favor the nationalist discourse and the call to patriotism expressed also yesterday by Bolsonaro.

Not surprisingly, yesterday at the presentation of Bolsonaro’s candidacy there was also the former player of the ‘Selecao’ and current senator Romario, world champion in 1994.

Acclaimed by supporters as the “captain of the people”, Bolsonaro spared no new criticism of the judiciary and called a general mobilization “for the last time” on September 7, the day in which Brazil’s Independence is celebrated.

“The people’s army, which is on our side, does not admit corruption, does not admit fraud. This is the army that wants transparency. Indeed, it does not want it: it will have it,” said Bolsonaro, referring to electronic ballot boxes, according to him. not entirely sure, so much so as to have proposed a parallel counting of the votes.
