Russia, state of emergency in 8 regions due to large fires

(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 10 – Emergency in eight regions of Russia where 160 forest fires broke out on an area of ​​188,787 hectares since yesterday. Tass reports it.

The largest fires were recorded in the Autonomous Region of Khanty-Mansi (110,369 hectares), in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (68,058 hectares), in the Magadan Region (21,704 hectares). Significant forest areas went up in smoke in the Komi Republic (8,415 hectares) and in the Yamalo-Nenets Region (3,110 hectares). Rescuers engaged in the extinguishing operations are 4,260 people, 110 aircraft used for monitoring and 29 for extinguishing. The fire season has been declared in 83 Russian regions, while special fire-fighting measures are in place in 59 regions. (HANDLE).
