Yemen: average, 3 children killed in artillery attack in Taiz

(ANSAMed) – BEIRUT, OCTOBER 30 – Three children were killed and three others were seriously injured in south-western Yemen, in the disputed city of Taiz, by artillery shells fired, according to state TV controlled by the pro-Saudi coalition , by pro-Iranian Huthi militiamen.

The information cannot be independently verified on the ground but international media confirm the balance by citing medical sources to Taiz.

The attack targeted a neighborhood of the city controlled by pro-Saudi forces and under siege by Iranian-backed Huthi insurgents.

According to sources, the injuries are serious and the toll could worsen. One of the injured minors lost his legs, doctors said.

The war in Yemen between loyalist forces, supported by Riyadh and the United Arab Emirates, and Huthi insurgents, supported by Iran, has continued since 2014. The conflict between the parties erupted after years of other internal violence that began in 2004 and intensified after the government crackdown on popular anti-government protests of 2011.

According to the UN, the war in Yemen has so far caused the killing of thousands of people and the displacement of millions of others, giving rise to one of the worst humanitarian crises on the planet. (ANSAMed).
