An airstrike hit Dnipro in central Ukraine, killing a two-year-old girl and injuring 22 people, Ukrainian authorities announced on Sunday (June 4th). President Volodymyr Zelensky accused the Russians of having “attacked the city” Saturday night and pointed out that other victims were trapped in the rubble of two apartment buildings.
Russian airstrikes over Ukraine have intensified in recent weeks, as have Ukrainian incursions into Russia. For months, kyiv has claimed to be preparing for a major offensive against Moscow’s occupying forces in a bid to recapture territories lost since Russia’s February 2022 invasion.
Saturday’s strike destroyed two buildings in a residential area of Dnipro, as well as ten houses, a store and a gas main, according to Dnipro region governor Serhiy Lysak.
One girl dead and 22 injured, including five children

Across the border, Ukrainian shellfire killed two people on Saturday in Belgorod, Russia, the local governor said. Border villages in this region have been hit by unprecedented artillery fire in recent days, and the latest deaths bring the overall toll to seven this week.
