France: Edf will no longer cut electricity to those who do not pay bills

(ANSA) – PARIS, NOVEMBER 12 – The French energy giant EDF announced today that it will stop asking for a cut in electricity for those customers who have not paid their bills. A provision that will remain valid throughout the year and not just for the winter months.

Instead of cutting the electricity, the group will instead ask, starting from April 1, 2022, to limit the electric power to 1 kVA, thus allowing those who are not up to date with their bills to have limited access to essential electrical uses. such as the operation of the refrigerator and / or the recharging of electrical equipment such as the mobile phone.

“This measure – the French energy giant specifies in a note – will be applied in any case, except in cases where there is a physical or technical impossibility to limit the electrical power supply of the house”.
